Creating spaces that connect people to the environment

Lemon Balm Design creates large and small outdoor spaces with both passive and active wellbeing benefits in mind.

What we do

We design large and small outdoor spaces with both passive and active wellbeing benefits in mind. We specialise in designing spaces to overcome physical and mental health issues such as low mobility, dementia, arthritis and other wellbeing barriers.

Whether you have community activities in mind or want to redesign your neighbourhood to promote equal access to green space, we can help.

Lemon Balm brought an impressive and detailed understanding of Yorkshire Water’s vision to take responsibility for the water environment

Why we do it

The connection between people and nature is vital for the health, sustainability and resilience of both and we are passionate about the active and passive benefits of bringing individuals and communities close to nature. After studying Ecology, Environmental Science, Volunteer Management, Horticulture and qualifying in Social and Therapeutic Horticulture with the Occupational Therapy Department of Coventry University, Isabel went on to study Landscape Design and was awarded a travel bursary from the Landscape Institute to study the therapy gardens of Sweden. This inspired her to take a truly evidence-based approach to Lemon Balm’s work.

Over the years our team has broadened allowing us to offer services in design and therapeutic activity which complement each other and being able to offer consultancy services to like-minded organisations.

How to access this service

Whatever the scale of your design project – whether you need us to design a space for employee wellbeing, community activities or want us to redesign your neighbourhood to promote equal access to green space, Lemon Balm can help.
